SERVICING THE COROMANDEL PENINSULA

Gas on the Coromandel Peninsula is a little more unique than most areas in New Zealand. The only fuel source to supply the surrounding area is LPG and it can come in many forms of sale. The most typical situation is for 2 x 45kg Bottles rented from a gas supplier and routinely checked and exchanged when required.

This tends to be the cheapest option as the gas is a lot cheaper through the gas supply companies but is a little hard to fit in the boot to get to the nearsest garage if you run out, let alone illegal.

I am here to help you decide which option best suites your situation, as you may only have a gas hob installed and all you really require is a 9 kg bottle and maybe a back up bottle is case you run out. It has been a common approach to do this as the Gas Installation does not require a gas certification, but has to be installed by a licensed gasfitter under supervision of a certified gasfitter. This loop hole came to an end in 1st April 2013 and all gas installations will required a Gas Certificate and only a Certified Gas Fitter can issue these. If you would like to read more about the in's and out's of Gasfitting click on this link.

When dealing with the instantaneous water heaters on the market today, it is very important not to under supply these units by running them on 9kg bottles.

Feel free to contact me if you have any issues with your installed appliance or gas line, and if you are after a price for a new build I am always in the area to arrange a visit and go over the job you are proposing
